Become an Approved Coach or Trainer

Letterland offers continuing professional development at many levels. From Letterland Coaches supporting teachers in their classrooms, to Senior Trainers able to 'train the trainers' and ensure complete fidelity across the training process. You will find resources to support you.

What is a Letterland Coach?

An approved Letterland Coach supports teachers by providing locally based instruction, they model good practice within their school or district and provide side-by-side support to teachers as required with lesson planning, pacing, data collection/analysis and differentiation. They conduct fidelity checks / walkthroughs to ensure teachers are delivering Letterland with fidelity and maintain communication with Letterland's US training team to ensure their knowledge is up-to-date.

To become a Letterland Coach you should:

  • have been a Letterland teacher for 1-2 years
  • have attended at least two Letterland Training Sessions (Kindergarten and another grade level)
  • have attended a Letterland 'Train the Coach Session' with district agreement.

What is a Letterland Trainer?

An approved Letterland Trainer delivers Letterland Training Sessions, provides follow up training and fidelity checks and attends regular update meetings as required. They report to the Head US Trainer (Letterland Trainers can be independent or work in-district).

To become a Letterland Trainer you should:

  • have been a Letterland Coach for 1-2 years
  • have attended Letterland Train the Trainer (ToT) meetings
  • shadow a Letterland Training Session with a Senior Trainer
  • be dynamic and be comfortable teaching adults, not just children!

What is a Letterland Senior Trainer?

An approved Letterland Senior Trainer will have previously been a Letterland Trainer and will continue to deliver Letterland Training Sessions, provide follow-up training and fidelty checks and attend regular update meetings as required. They report to the Head US Trainer.

To become a Letterland Senior Trainer you should:

  • have conducted Letterland Training Sessions for at least 2 years
  • be able to mentor and work with trainee Trainers
  • be able to develop and customize follow-up Training Sessions
  • be dynamic, with a lively personality and be comfortable teaching adults.
