Support for CD-ROM Software (Living ABC and Story Phonics)

System Requirements

Letterland CD-ROM software can be installed on a PC (Windows XP and above), activation requires an internet connection. Please note this software is not compatible with macOS Catalina (MacOS 10.15) and above and also requires Adobe Flash Player to work which was classed as End of Life (EOL) by Adobe on Dec 31, 2020. Why not try out our new Phonics Online web-based software that will work on almost any device and doesn't require Adobe Flash Player.

Activating your Software

You will need your unique Product Key to activate your software which can be found on the CD-ROM. If you purchased the software from our website shop, you'll be able to find your Product key on your confirmation email. Once you have successfully installed the software, open it for the first time. You will be asked to register and activate your Product Key which requires an internet connection.

1. Download the latest version and install the software.

2. Enter your unique Product Key.

3. Create an account or login if you have one already.
For security reasons, you must have an account before using the software. If you don't have an account, fill in your details and click CREATE. We will email you a confirmation with your registration details, please keep them safe as they must be used to deactivate or transfer the software to another computer. If you already have an account (for example you are reinstalling the software on a new computer or you have already activated another Letterland software) enter your username and password and login.
Please note that only one user account and password is allowed per product key. If your product key is a multi-device product key, the email address and password used for first activation will be the only account credentials valid for all other user activations for that product key. We recommend you chose a generic email and password that can be passed to all users.

Activation error message: Please make sure you have an internet connection

An internet connection is required to activate the software. Check that you can access the internet by visiting a known website. If after accessing the internet on a web browser the problem still persists, contact your IT Manager. Some schools/organisations have strict web filters or firewalls that block the software from accessing our servers to activate. The url http://ssreg.letterland.com will need to be added to a safe list, authentication bypass list or proxy bypass list.

Activation error message: This Product Key is already in use

If you have upgraded your operating system or computer you may get this error message. You will need to login to your software account by visiting http://ssreg.letterland.com using the email and password that you used when first activating the software. Once logged in, you will see your Product Key and the number of permitted devices. Click on the "Deactivate" link to deactivate the original computer.  You can now install and register the new machine. If you have purchased a volume licence or site licence you may also get this error message. To install on more than one device, you will need to login using the account details you used for the first activation. If you have lost these details please get in touch.

Activation error message: Please enter a valid Product Key

If you get this message double check that you are entering the Product Key correctly. If the error message persists, please get in touch.

Activating your Software (For Networks)

Below are instructions detailing how to activate Letterland software on multiple, networked machines without needing to manually activate the software on each machine. Before following these instructions, please ensure that you have downloaded the latest version.

Step 1

Install Letterland software on the master machine. Activate the software manually by entering your product key and account email and password. If you have not already created an account you can do so at this stage. Please make a note of your product key, email and password.

Step 2

On the master machine download and run "LetterlandLicenseFileUtility". Select the product that you want to activate. Then enter your product key, email and password (these values must be exactly the same as used in Step 1). Click on SAVE LICENSE FILE button and save the license file. This will create a license file with an ".lsc" extension. The .lsc file will be saved in the same folder at the utility that has just been run. This .lsc file will be used by all subsequent activations on network nodes.

Step 3

On the master machine download "LetterlandActivationUtility".

Step 4

Create a new folder called "LetterlandActivation" and place a copy of the .lsc file and a copy of the downloaded LetterlandActivationUtility into this new folder. For MAC users, please ensure that you copy just the app and not the dmg file. The folder "LetterlandActivation" is now ready to be deployed to all node machines. (Note. The new folder can have any other name you wish.)

Step 5

On any network node where the Letterland software needs to be activated, install the Letterland software normally by running the Setup application.

Step 6

On the network node, copy the folder "LetterlandActivation" from Step 4 on to the node. Alternatively, make this folder a shared folder on the master machine so the node can access this folder (Read and execute privileges only are required).

Step 7

Make sure the node is connected to internet and run "LetterlandActivationUtility.exe". NB. It is important that the user running the LetterlandActivationUtility.exe has sufficient permissions to write to the C:\ProgramData folder. This will allow all users of the machine to run an activated version of the software. If the user does not have sufficient permissions, they will only activate the software for their local user.

Step 8

Steps 5, 6 & 7 are to be repeated on each node either manually or through a batch operation.

Step 9

If there is no internet connection on the node machine, or if the number of installations exceeds the number of licenses permitted for the product key used, the activation will fail, in which case an error log is displayed. If there is no error, the application exits automatically after 15 seconds.

Notes

  • The "LetterlandActivationUtility" application can be run from a shared network location if required
  • The "LetterlandActivationUtility" application will activate ALL the Letterland software license files it will find in the same folder. If you have to activate multiple Letterland software on one computer you can do so by placing their license files in the same folder. Only the licenses that have to be activated should be present in this folder
